Hi. I've been using music studio deluxe (2005) for years until my computer died and I had to get a new system that has windows 7. I tried upgrading (somewhat) to music studio 12 to save money, but despite it appearing to install correctly (using the compatibility wizard & XP service pack 3 settings--vista settings wouldn't even start the program), it froze my computer and wouldn't run beyond the opening screen. I even tried reinstalling it several times and always got the same result.
So, is Samplitude essentially the same as/better than the old music studio programs, and is Samplitude music studio 14 (which is going for a price I can afford) compatible with Windows 7? I'm looking for a program geared toward recording instruments, vocals, etc./mixing/mastering, not a loop library like what music maker seems to be. I'd rather be sure the compatibility wizard will work than waste time and money again, so any help would be appreciated.
